Rules and regulations FICU 2013

The Uruguay International Short Film Festival (FICU) is now accepting submissions of short films up to 30 minutes in length, completed after January 1st, 2011.

The FICU accepts films for the following sections:

Fiction 
Animation 
Documentary 
Children & Teens 
Video Art 
Video Dance

Filmmakers may submit as many films as they wish, for any of the sections, specifying for which section(s) they wish to be considered. 

Films whose main language is not Spanish must be subtitled in either English or Spanish, and a complete dialogue list with timecode must be included with their submission. Films that fail to meet this requirement will not be considered. 

Simultaneous voice-over translation will not be accepted.

The Festival organizers assume no responsibility or liability related to the copyright of any elements included in the films presented, whenever it may not have been duly secured by the film producers.

The Festival organization will not be held responsible for any damages film copies may suffer during shipping. 

Shipping costs will be covered by film entrants. The shipping of films from other festivals must also be arranged and paid for by the filmmakers.

All submissions must include the words: "FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY. NO COMMERCIAL VALUE. VALUE (FOR CUSTOMS PURPOSES ONLY) $ 10. The Festival organizers will not assume any responsibility for materials shipped without this clarification.

Film entries must be accompanied by a data sheet, including formats and credits specifications, as well as contact details for the person or persons responsible for each film.

(Once uploaded the work, you will be asked a series of data that will make up the registration form, the participant sending the message on line do not have to send anything by post or e-mail. The content is private and only accessible by the festival and colleagues)

The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 31, 2013.

The Festival organizers reserve the right to suspend or modify the festival´s rules and regulations whenever they see fit.

A pre-selection committee appointed by the Festival organizers will be responsible for the final selection. 

Selected films will be shown during the Festival and posted on the Festival´s homepage, websites, and social networks.

The directors and/or producers of the selected films will be notified by email.

The jury will be composed of distinguished personalities from the world of film, the arts, and academia, and they will be responsible for selecting the award winners. 

The Jury's decision will be final and subject to no appeal. Should the Jury fail to reach an agreement, it will be left for the Festival organizers to make a final decision.

The works submitted for selection will not be returned to the senders, and they will become part of the archive of FICU. 

They will be made available for screenings, events, and media promotion organized by the FICU, only for cultural purposes and never for commercial purposes.

Participation in the Festival implies the acceptance of all its rules and regulations, as described in this document.

Bases FICU 2013

La organización del Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes del Uruguay (FICU) llama a inscripciones a films de hasta 30 minutos de duración realizados con posterioridad al 1º de enero de 2011.

Las categorías que comprenden el FICU son:

Sección Ficción.
Sección Animación.
Sección Documental.
Sección Niños y Adolescentes.
Sección Video Arte.
Sección Video Danza.


Cada autor puede presentar la cantidad de films que desee en la todas las categoría,especificando la categoría a la que presenta el o los films.

Las películas no habladas en español deben venir subtituladas en español o inglés y enviar la lista completa de los diálogos con timecode. Las películas que no cumplan este requisito no serán consideradas. La traducción simultánea no será considerada.

La organización del Festival no asume ninguna responsabilidad por los derechos de autor de los trabajos presentados no gestionados por los responsables de los films.

La organización del Festival no se hace responsable por cualquier daño sufrido por la copia del film durante el envío al mismo.

Los costos de envío son responsabilidad del remitente. Las copias que sean enviadas desde otros festivales deberán ser gestionadas por el remitente.

Todos los envíos deben incluir la leyenda: “PARA FINES CULTURALES ÚNICAMENTE. SIN VALOR COMERCIAL. VALOR (SOLO A EFECTOS ADUANEROS) USD 10”. La Organización del Festival no aceptará la responsabilidad sobre el material enviado sin dicha aclaración.

Los trabajos deben ser acompañados de una ficha técnica y los datos de contacto de el o los responsables.

(Una vez subida la obra, se le pedirán una serie de datos que conformarán la hoja de inscripción,el participante que realiza el envío on line no tiene que enviar nada más por correo postal o e-mail. El contenido es privado y solo accesible por el festival y sus colaboradores)

La fecha límite de recepción de trabajos es el viernes 31 de mayo de 2013.

La organización del Festival se reserva el derecho de suspender o modificar las normas del festival siempre que se considere necesario.

Un comité de pre selección elegido por la organización del Festival tendrá la responsabilidad de la selección final.

Las películas seleccionadas serán exhibidas durante el Festival y publicadas en sus sitios de internet, página web y redes sociales.

Los autores de los cortos seleccionados serán informados vía mail.

El Jurado estará integrado por representantes del medio profesional audiovisual, artístico y académico y será responsable por la entrega de premios. La decisión del Jurado será considerada definitiva e inapelable. Los organizadores del festival tomarán la decisión final en caso de polémica.

Los trabajos enviados para ser seleccionados no serán devueltos a sus autores y pasarán a formar parte del patrimonio del archivo del FICU. Ellos se pondrán a disposición para proyecciones, eventos y difusión organizados por el FICU sólo para fines culturales y nunca para fines comerciales.

La participación en el Festival implica que todas las condiciones y los términos descritos en las normas y reglamentos en este documento han sido aceptadas.
